Vale – James (Jim) Dunlevy

27 April 2018 by

Mr Jim Dunlevy

It is with deep sadness that we notify you that Mr James (Jim) Dunlevy has passed on to eternal life. Jim was a member of the teaching staff of our College from 1984. Weakened by a battle with cancer, but comfortable in palliative care, Jim died surrounded by loved ones on 26 April 2018. His loss will be felt deeply by many of you in our community.

Jim will be remembered by his colleagues at MacKillop as a passionate teacher and learner, a man of great faith with a strong personal connection to Mary MacKillop and everything she stood for. He showed care and respect to all who had the privilege to know him. Jim was filled with a desire to educate the whole person and built strong rapport with students and staff by taking a genuine interest in who they were as people. He has been, and will continue to be sadly missed by all at our College.

Jim’s ongoing commitment to Catholic Education began in 1972. He worked at Mount St. Joseph’s – Altona, Emmanuel College – Altona North, Sacred Heart – Kyneton before starting at MacKillop College – Werribee in 1984. Jim was a man for whom teaching was a vocation and we are all so grateful for that.

Jim was the much loved husband of Robyn also an ex-MacKillop staff member. Jim and Robyn and their family took great comfort in the prayers of our College throughout Jim’s illness. Please continue to hold the Dunlevy family in your prayers, with confidence that our good and loving God will bring peace and comfort to the hearts and bodies of those heavy with grief at this time of loss.
