As an eSmart school, MacKillop Catholic College is often alerted to resources pertaining to the safe engagement of students in an online environment. With the event of online learning continuing for a while longer, it becomes even more relevant that we pause and assess how we are travelling with our remote online teaching and learning experiences.
The eSmart organisation has released a series of parent/guardian and student resources pertaining to flexible and remote learning, that can be used to guide and provide direction for students and their parents/guardians in the online learning environment www.esmart.org.au/esmart-schools/resources/.
The organisations’ theme, that eSmart Teachers + eSmart Parents = eSmart Students, portrays how the partnership between the College and home remains a vital connection for this learning to occur. With such involvement and presence online with current teaching and learning, the eSmart community is strongly advocating the awareness of cyberbullying and appropriate online behaviours. Along with events such as Privacy Awareness Week, which is occurring this week, they have instigated a ‘Do it for Dolly Day’, which aims to bring the community together to celebrate kindness and unite in taking a stand against bullying. This Friday 8 May is to be a day of kindness; so be a mate and be kind on May 8.
