MacKillop congratulates VCAL Achievements
The VCAL Awards 2011 were held at Federation Square. Of the 24 awards presented by the Hon. Martin Dixon (Minister for Education), the College was acknowledged as the best VCAL Provider in three of them, namely:
The VCAL Student Achievement Award – Senior Team Achievement, awarded to Lucy Daniels, Ben Hockley, Karl Gerada, Kate Murphy, Travis Twist and Brooke Welsh.
The VCAL Teacher Achievement Award – Teacher of the Year awarded to Rod Sheehan.
The VCAL Teacher Achievement Award – Program Development, awarded to Rod Sheehan.
Prior to closing the ceremony Ben Hockley addressed the audience with an educative journey of his story. His presentation transfixed the audience and was a clear and unequivocal message of the importance of such a pathway. He acknowledged MacKillop College as well as many of his teachers who supported him in his journey.
With VCAL engaging more than 21,000 students and involving at least 440 providers this is a wonderful accomplishment. All of the VCAL teachers at the College are proud of such an achievement.
