International Students Update
Our Italian and Japanese international students are well settled into the Australian school life and enjoying the experience. They were privileged to experience MacKillop Day in its full glory. The weather could not have been better. The feedback about the attractions, the offerings, the food and generosity of spirit was all positive. In fact one student asked if he could return to MacKillop next year if only to experience MacKillop Day again.
The following Monday all international students were presented with their International Student badge at the whole school assembly. A proud moment for all.
While the Year 11 students went on their Career Discovery Day we took the opportunity to show off aspects of Melbourne to our International Students. We started off at Melbourne Museum looking at what seemed our limited history compared to Japan and Italy. Then we visited Little Bourke Street to see Chinatown, Lonsdale Street to see the Greek district, Lygon Street in Carlton for the Italian area and finally driving through Barkly Street in Footscray for the Vietnamese focus. This allowed them to have a perspective on multicultural Melbourne.
