On Thursday the 25th of Feburary, 10 students from MacKillop’s MathBusters class, along with Mr A Westgarth, visited Deakin University in Waurn Ponds. Last week, students in the MathBusters class created three dimensional cubes that can be folded and “collapsed” into a two dimensional square. They looked into the combination of shapes that allowed this and also completed some further research into the properties of three dimensional shapes and how they change as the shape is adjusted.
Menelo Maverick Menor, Year 12 student in Mr Tagliabue’s Visual Communication and Design class, was the first student at MacKillop to officially use our 3D Printers in the production of his VCE folio. All of the Year 8 students are currently working on a unit of work focusing on fractions, using challenging tasks to develop problem solving skills and perseverance.
