Year 12 Theatre Studies presents “An Inspector Calls”
On June 25th and 26th, the Year 12 Theatre Studies class put on a wonderful and thought-provoking production of An Inspector Calls in the Moreno Arts Centre. The play written by English dramatist J. B. Priestley and was first performed in 1945 in the Soviet Union and 1946 in the UK. It is one of Priestley’s best known works for the stage and considered to be one of the classics of mid-20th century English theatre. The play is a three-act drama (but we did it as an edited Two Act Drama), which takes place on a single night in 1912, focusing on the prosperous middle-class Birling family. The family is visited by a man calling himself Inspector Goole. The family are interrogated and revealed to have been responsible for the young woman’s exploitation, abandonment and social ruin, effectively leading to her death.
We would like to say a huge congratulations to the cast, production crew and the staff who helped out with the production especially Mr. Travis Gorlin the Theatre Co-ordinator and Mr. Mark Eckersley our Theatre Studies teacher. Well done to the whole Year 12 Theatre Studies class of Courtney Roberts, Natalie Farrugia, Michael Noy, Alex Beckitt, Paige Williams, Sheandra de Silva, Lauren Houareau, Kirstie Todaro, Georgia Foster and Cassie Hills.
