Year 10 Art – Anti-Gambling Exhibition
Late Term 2, three MacKillop College Year 10 Art students were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for best artworks at an Anti-Gambling Exhibition!
The exhibition was run as part of the Young Leaders of the West initiative (YLOTW), who are currently trying to raise awareness of the serious issue of problem gambling in the local community. Through state government funding, they have created three ads that tackle the issue. In response to a presentation, the Art students were asked to design/create a painting that aimed to showcase the health/social/financial pitfalls of problem gambling.
20 MacKillop student paintings went on display on Thursday 27 June, at the Whitten Oval, and were a major part of the evening’s launch of the advertisements. They all looked powerful and diverse among entries from two other schools.
A big thank you to all of the students involved, and the parents/guardians who attended the evening.
