MacKillop students visit Deakin University
On Thursday the 25th of Feburary, 10 students from MacKillop’s MathBusters class, along with Mr A Westgarth, visited Deakin University in Waurn Ponds. They were given a tour of the Centre for Intelligent Systems Research (CISR) lab by Dr Kyle Nelson. During this tour the students learned about the growing use of robotics in today’s society and how it is applied through mathematics and engineering. They then were able to observe the “universal motion simulator” that is capable of simulating a variety of vehicles and aircraft. The students also visited the Institute for Frontier Materials which works in developing and researching metals and fibres for various uses around the world.
