Social Justice & Liturgy Captains

Last term, the Social Justice and Liturgy Captains, aided by our Social Justice Club sought to raise funds for Project Compassion by raffling off a fair-trade Lush and chocolate hamper. This term, we are focusing on assisting the St Vinnies Winter Appeal, organizing the winter sleepout, putting food donation baskets into every classroom and creating a Vinnies donation bin that students will be encouraged to place clothing and blankets into to aid those less fortunate this winter.

Visual Arts Captain

The Art Committee continues to run every Thursday 2 lunchtime, allowing many students to come in and enjoy different art activities on offer. Nativity project has also begun, welcoming anyone every lunchtime to complete the different paintings Mr. Kennedy have commissioned us to do.

Academic Captains

The Academic Captains have spent the first semester of this year working on our EAL tutoring program and have found plenty of volunteers for the program. The program will start semester 2 and we hope it’ll be a big success!

Performing Arts Captains

Recently, the Performing Arts Captains have been organizing the ‘Performing Arts Week’ which will be held in September promoting multiple activities at lunchtime including ‘Thank God You’re Here’.

On the technical side of Performing Arts, Ryan Shaw is organizing a technical group which will be formed by MacKillop students in all year levels. The aim of this groups is to allow students to develop skills and promote Performing Arts in it’s technical aspect

Sports Captains

I love sport. Sport Sport Sport! Over the next few weeks, year 12 dodgeball will be held in the TWC on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime. Come down and watch, have some fun and get out of the cold weather. Sports Captains.

Band Captains

From Sunday the 14th to Wednesday the 17th of May, a select few of Mackillop College’s bands and ensembles attended our Annual Band Tour up in Bright to rehearse, perfect and perform our pieces. Upon the conclusion of the tour, those who attended the camp performed their repertoires at the college’s Concert Band Exhibition Evening.

Environmental Report

So far we have been trying to promote picking up rubbish and try to reduce litter to keep our school environment clean. We have been running a competition where students and teachers who are seen doing the right thing and picking up rubbish will get a raffle ticket and go in the draw to win a zoo voucher at Werribee Zoo. We have also been working in the chicken coop to maintain it and collect eggs.

Media Report

The media captains are working on the progression of the 2017 yearbook and also making a video for Mr. Richard for the development of the school over the years.
